Introducing Shane Wolfsmith, GB’s New Director of Client Services

img_0375Meet Shane Wolfsmith, our new Director of Client Services. A creative industry veteran, Shane brings years of agency leadership and senior-level experience to Grady Britton.

With stints at Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, as well as American Express, his past clients include major brands like P&G, Charles Schwab, Google and HP, as well as more regional players like Blount, Silicon Valley Bank and Greater Portland Inc. No matter the size of the client, with Shane it’s all about rolling up your sleeves, aligning on a vision, collaborating, and doing great work together.

But you can read about all that on his LinkedIn page. We figured that to really get to know Shane, you should learn some facts about him you can’t find anywhere else. So, we presented him with ten questions—a few expected ones, and a few he certainly hasn’t been asked during an interview.

GRADY BRITTON: What drew you to Grady Britton?

SHANE WOLFSMITH: The people, the clients and the work. I’ve been in the agency world for some time and once I understood more about what GB did, who they were and who they worked with, as well as what they had hoped to accomplish in the world, I wanted to be part of it.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

Rivers, mountains, forests. I guess that’s three.

Describe your 80-year-old self. Where will you be? What will you be doing?

I want to be one of those 80-year-olds who people can’t believe are still doing things. Like people are saying, “You won’t believe this old guy I know just completed the Pacific Coast Trail with his wife!” I also want to be telling stories to younger people—stories they want to hear, not ones they have to hear. Stories that inspire them to live the lives they want to live and to be true to themselves along the way.

Who is your dream client?

One who wants to do great work and have a true partner in doing so.

What is your favorite type of food or dish?

A spiedie. It’s a sandwich that’s native to where I grew up in Upstate New York. Marinated chicken or pork, cubed, grilled and served on a slice of fresh, Italian bread. And no condiments—it’s a rule that must not be broken.

What is your favorite beverage?

Non-alcoholic beverage is Evening in Missoula herbal tea from Montana Tea & Spice Trading Co. I drink it almost every morning. Alcoholic is Clem’s Cream Ale from Migration Brewery. I don’t drink it most mornings.

Where is your favorite place you’ve visited in the world?

Incredibly hard question. I love so many places. Istanbul for my favorite city. South Africa for my favorite country. Sicily for my favorite island. New Zealand (South Island) being a very close second.

Where/what is your dream vacation?

Gosh, which one to choose! There are so many options. I’ve always wanted to spend several months in the world’s happiest country to see what can be learned. They are ranked each year if you can believe it or not. Denmark seems to sit at the top, but Finland, Iceland and Switzerland are up there too. I’d start in Iceland and see where things go!

Dogs or cats?

Dogs. I’m allergic to cats, but even if I wasn’t, it would still be dogs.

What are your favorite sports teams?

The Timbers, Denver Broncos, and CUBS! are where my loyalties lie. All of them have won national or world championships in the past 12 months, so it’s been an unforgettable sports year!
