We’re Celebrating the Big 4-0

Hey folks, it’s with great pride that we announce our 40th year in business. With our first four decades in the rearview mirror, we thought the best way to celebrate was with a year-long launch of some fun personal initiatives — and we want to share the first of those with you!

These are pet projects of our own that could live on and do good in their own ways. Anyone here was free to develop an idea. The creative brief: Dream it up and set it loose into the world with a little love, and a whole lot of why not.

Here’s what some of our projects look like (and the year ain’t over yet)! Check them out, honorary Griffs! Let us know what you think.

Pet project no. 1: Have a Nice Idea

Our ECD Andy Askren had this idea: there had to be some pretty funny/amazing/inspiring, no-rulebook-for-it stories about advertising just sitting there—untold—in the collective experiences of top-notch creative people right here in Portland. Stories the creative world needed to hear. Totally valuable, probably at least slightly entertaining. So we got to telling those stories and the result was the Have a Nice Idea podcast series. You can find it on iTunes and Twitter @haveaniceidea

Pet project no. 2: Sqooch

Our Web Developer/Ninja, Joey Yax, likes to tinker. He noticed something — with so many streaming music services available, and this one merging with that one, he wondered why there wasn’t an easy, elegant way to transfer/replicate/migrate carefully curated playlists from one service to another. So he tinkered. And out came Sqooch, a free app that allows you to switch your music and playlists between Spotify and Beats Music (Rdio coming soon)! Even Kanye’s not going to complain about this. Find Sqooch on the web or Twitter @sqoochapp.

You can keep tabs on the rest of our pet projects and old favorites on the blog, but also on the GB40th page! Tweeple, feel free to follow us @GradyBritton.
