Port of Vancouver USA names Grady Britton as Agency of Record

Portland, Ore., (March 3, 2009) – The Port of Vancouver USA has named Portland-based Grady Britton as its agency of record. The agency will support the port with branding, advertising, public relations and interactive services over the next three years.

Grady Britton will work with the Port of Vancouver to execute internal and external communications to promote upcoming projects that positively impact the city and the environment, and to position the port in a way that differentiates it from other Northwest ports.

The agency will also work to raise awareness about the port’s strong environmental stewardship, role in local job creation, and pioneering efforts in supporting and building the Northwest transportation infrastructure.

“We’re looking forward to working with the ‘Port of Possibility,’” said Grady Britton President Frank Grady. “The Port of Vancouver is a valuable commercial hub for its surrounding community and the region, and we’re excited to find new and innovative ways to support its brand in the coming years.”

The port’s Executive Director, Larry Paulson, was impressed by Grady Britton’s approach.

“Grady Britton has roots established not only in public-sector work, but also in Vancouver with private-sector clients like Burgerville and First Independent Bank,” Paulson said. “That, combined with their eye for a return on the port’s investment, were big reasons why the team charged with reviewing proposals from marketing agencies found Grady Britton to be the top choice.”

The Port of Vancouver is embarking on projects that will significantly increase their local, national, and international presence. These projects include adding new terminals, increasing rail volumes by more than 25 percent, providing new light industrial space for local businesses, and enhancing and preserving local wildlife habitats.

Grady Britton will also help the port plan for its centennial celebration, slated for 2012.

About Port of Vancouver USA

The Port of Vancouver USA, created by Clark County taxpayers in 1912, is one of the major ports on the Pacific Coast. Its competitive strengths include available land, versatile cargo handling capabilities, vast transportation networks, a dependable labor force and an exceptional level of service to its customers and community.

The Port of Vancouver is embarking on a year full of projects and developments that will lead to vital job creation, economic stimulation and environmental preservation. By diversifying its cargo mix between bulk commodities, breakbulk and project cargos, the port is responsible for job generation and significant contributions to the tax base for not only its own community, but also the state of Washington. Current expansion of the port’s rail system and development of new port industrial and marine properties will bring new jobs – both short term and long term – and the preservation of wetlands, the creation of enhanced wildlife habitat, and make way for more green/sustainable business partners operating from the port.
